About the Artist

My art is inspired by my love of the natural world. This interest in nature started from early childhood in Barbados, kindled by my father who was a keen naturalist and breeder of exotic birds. I grew up surrounded by aviaries with birds of great diversity, while assisting in the daily care of these birds I had the opportunity to observe the smallest details in feet, beaks feathers etc. This early knowledge has proven invaluable in the accurate anatomical portrayal of birds and animals.

In 1995 I won the - Weekly Journal/ Mutual Services art competition in  England and I came to London to accept my prize and have a solo show, with the stimulus of the British art scene my work improved dramatically, which led to exhibitions at The Royal Institute of Painters in watercolour, Society of Wildlife Artists, Singer and Friedlander Sunday Times and Discerning Eye where Prince Charles chose my painting to be included in the exhibition at Mall Galleries.

Through the research my art requires, I seek to analyse understand nature, the colours, textures and symbiotic relationship that abound. The complexities and subtleties of nature are never ending yet seem to fit together in a consummate plan beyond our compehension. It is my hope that through my art I can attempt to convey this to the viewer.
